Attention to the protection of the health of the user and of the staff by offering them the best and most qualified guarantee on the work place and in the places of passage (above all at bus stations) stands at the base of SAF choice, consisting in: - training its staff and its direct collaborators to operate with AEDs directly on people struck by heart failure – supplying AED equipment which ensures a suitable decisive and early intervention in case of heart failure, one of the main causes of death. Law 120/01 regulates the use of semiautomatic defibrillators in non-hospital environments, and thus legitimizes first aid initiatives by non-medical staff, who has been specifically trained on sudden death prevention thanks to early intervention. In this normative environment, staff was trained in Basic Life Support Defibrillation (BLSD) in order to become non-professional helpers and EADs (External semiAutomatic Defibrillators) were supplied in order to carry out suitable intervention in case of need. The training of staff took place last autumn and 5 company employees and collaborators were qualified. Three EADs were bought: they are equipped with sophisticated systems to analyze the heart rhythm which have a diagnostic precision similar to that of a cardiologist, a resuscitator or another first-aid expert, thus releasing the operator from any diagnostic responsibility and allowing defibrillation when and only if it is really necessary. SAF is the first company in Friuli Venezia Giulia which equipped itself with such instruments and which, at the same time, promoted training not only for its own staff in the main seat, but also for the employees in charge of Udine and Tolmezzo Bus Stations, where the equipment is available.
